The Rhyme in Poetry

To make one wise...
11 months ago by Edimon Ombati

I plucked it and ate it,
To me it was appealing to the eyes,
It seemed good for food and to make one wise,
To my eyes it was pleasing
And to my nose, of pleasant smell.

For how long was I to enjoy this moment?
Until when before my eyes are opened?
Until when before my nakedness is revealed?
O wretched man I am
Who can save me?

I tarried wondering when will I be free,
Each day I wondered further and further,
A feeling of loss daily occupied my heart,
Every time I searched my heart,
But nothing came forth that was good.

I desired to do good,
For once to think right,
for a moment to feel good of myself,
But guilt down to the drain it took me,
I felt unworth His presence.

“My grace is sufficient” from a far I heard,
I searched where the voice came from,
“Is he speaking to me?” I wondered,
Could it really mean that He can save even a wretch like me?
What? Am I worth even a moment of being considered for salvation?
I think it is not me. May be someone else.

"He is able to help you both to will and do His good pleasure,
He is able to do excedingly, abundantly, above all you ask,
He will strenghten thee and uphold thee"
I had as voices speaking

If this true it be,
A try will I give it,
What have I to loose any way,

I never knew the joy I could find in Him,
I never knew the peace the would be within my soul,
I was not prepared for the doors of abundance that were to open up for me,
And in Him I found peace that no words can speak,
Peace that surpasses all understanding.

The Struggling Christian...
1 year ago by Edimon Ombati

Each day you will wake
To the desire to live perfectly,
The scenes of your sinfulness yesterday
Keep haunting you
You make resolutions to live perfectly

Listen to good music
Eat healthy and exercise you physic
Maintain your purity at optimal
All that will make a perfect Christian

All this is washed in a second
By a sway of your passions
The temptations you thought you could overcome
Become your fall by just appearance
It may be that addiction you want to overcome
That nice unhealthy food, though or action
That idle heart of sin, yes that lustful eye
But you fall again

Your mind tells you to give up
Never to look back into anything
Never to be part of those who profess to be holy
You look at your fellow Christians and you ask
"Do they too go through that which i am struggling with?"
Are they bound to ere as I do?
Do they spend moments of pain on their knees crying over that sin that has stuck with them?

O faithful Christian,
It is not all lost, you ain't alone
Yes, we are struggling to stand too
My prayer is you find the solace you're seeking
The victory you have struggled to have for a while

A thought of you...
1 year ago by Edimon Ombati

Some times I sit all day,
Thinking of you and your beauty,
I won't assume and say that is my duty,
But at times a thought of you is my sorrow

It makes no sense to you,
That thinking of you can be sad
But I wonder what your heart had
When it chose to burry itself in mine

I was warned that I can be destructive
But they never said it can be such attractive
To a soul like you I came
Empty not as I was brought
But because by my choices I bought
Selling every piece of my happiness for care

I have never understood what you saw
In my heart hope and happiness to saw
Or are you like them to buy
A moment then leave without a bye

I will love it if to me you made known
That my heart I prepare own
Giving a piece of peace
Never to let it cry again
For healing I have never known

Today may be nice
But if tomorrow it be a tear,
That will not be wise
Make me understand why
And make me also see your heart

Rise up and dust off...
1 year ago by Edimon Ombati

It takes long to decide and move on,
The memories will always attempt to hold you back
The smiles, the jokes even the tears may at times tear you apart
Not knowing whether you will trust, love or forgive again,
Every memory of the moments may make you feel that it may never happen again
May be it was a dream you will never wake to its reality,
May be it is a journey you may never have a return to,
May be it is a moment that for sure will never pass again on your phase of life

Rise up. Dust off. Move on as though it never happened
Seek happiness, satisfaction and value in the present
Anchor not yourself on the past
Hold your tears for if you cry they may prevent you from seeing the beautiful stars aligning the horizon in what you think is a night
It happened for a right reason
That you may see the value of loosing it

Don't live wishing for the worst to them
May be it is true you were the problem
May be you had a part in the whole issue
Rise up and dust off. Clean up your face from the tears
Challenge yourself out of it
Live better, stronger and happier
Don't loose yourself seeking to meet the expectations
It is all you need, yourself

The confused love...
1 year ago by Edimon Ombati

What does it mean to be loved?
Is it a matter that to you to be laughed?
What is the cost of that pretty face
Is it a reality that you can't face

There is beauty and satisfaction,
To know that you smile even at a fraction,
Your heart is merry
Even if she is not Mary

He never thought he could be worth,
Even when his heart was wroth,
His temper was to peace brought
Her love to him joy and peace bought

What a beauty it is
A wish come true they way,
Bearing bare his naked vulnerability
To hide from her love was no ability

Love is sweet.
Love is warm.
Love ain't sweat
Love ain't cold a sweater to wear

Dear Heart...
1 year ago by Edimon Ombati

Dear heart, there is something I must tell you
Something sad and so hard for me to say
For I know how much you always loved her
And how you always hoped that she'd come back someday

But day after day your hopes have grown dim
As you watched life and love passing by
And the life you now live is empty and so lonely
But you just lived for her and slowly die

You know she left me for something better
So give her up, let her go, let it be
Dear heart, if you won't stop beating for her
Then, dear heart, stop beating for me

Set to set...
1 year ago by Edimon Ombati

I watch the sun set
Its rays the mood they reset
A beautiful day it has been
Beauty the eyes have seen

I may not have counted
All the blessings I have encountered
But to see the sun set
Is enough for the heart to rest

'Leave your worries to the winds'
A place in my heart it finds
To look for brighter days to come
Only that the heart is not fully ready

Beauty is all I see
With the sky full of breeze
And the calm sounds the heart to freeze
Till another day I enjoy

she is all I love...
1 year ago by Edimon Ombati

I behold each day
The chance I got to love
The very person I had a dream
Never knowing whether for joy to scream

Her tender eyes awake
A sense of shyness within
Words can not speak the feel
Of how she has my void fill

He beauty beyond
Every comparable texture
To compare her is to neglect
How priceless she is

I could go east and west
Never to let north and south
But my heart will pull
Always to the center of her affection

She is all I wanted
Complete to say I am
I never thought she could
My love accept at all

She is all I love.

Can we start over again...
1 year ago by Edimon Ombati

Can we start it over?
This time as friends,
I mean good friends.
A friend you can trust to tell
All the worries you face

Can we start it over
This time with no secret
No fear of betrayal or prejudice
With pure love and transparence.

Can we start over?
This time with longer calls than we had,
With laughter and atmospheres of appreciation,
This time without caring of what is missing,
But appreciating that which is?

Can we start over,
This time more responsive,
Longing to meet more,
Just to stare at each other and smile,

Can we start over again,
This time more caring and loving,
Happy in each other,
This time with more determination,
To make it work between us

Youths in service...
2 years ago by Billy

He is coming, the Savior Divine,
In grace and glory, His light will shine.
Be the sermon, let actions speak loud,
In every deed, let love be promised.

I will go, where His love is needed most,
In streets and alleys, from rural to coast.
Love is a verb, in service we find,
Showing up in the city, hearts connected.

Hoping for hope...
2 years ago by Billy

There are times we break down

Times we cry more than breathe

None to talk to when we need most

Out casted  from ties ever held so dear

Primary ties you can never change

People we respect and need the most

Seem to have labelled  us criminal

With things we don't  remember to do

We watch out with no where to go

Wearing mask on  hurting old self

Hoping they will ever reach out

Even if is to accuse and condemn us

Atleast to hear from them,

As we have always tried our part in vein

They seem never to care

Looking forwad to that day

Hoping praying for that day

Wishing its sooner  that day

That life will change

Maybe back to where it was

Or to much to heavens

It seems therapeutic  before that day

Changing a life...
3 years ago by Billy

Fear of scars from the past

Of the pain and sorrows ever felt

Of the recurrent convalescence

Staged from the base of the experiences

Causing regrets of the bygone doings

Seeking forgiveness from my mortal self

As i feel guilty of the judgements

Even though am a changed being

Far from that sinful soul ever made

Friends never believe on how it happened

As I was destined  to perish

As I try to leave a life of decency

To be proud of what I have tried to be

Never to harm friends family and I

Always fighting for  the less fortunate

Like I had been taught  in my childhood

That way I'll  make my mark on earth

Sabbath...
3 years ago by Billy

Sabbath  Sabbath
Here it is
Joyful wonderful
In our thoughts
How shall we express it
The joy and peace
You'll  never fathom

Music music
Is what we love
A little  here a little there
Scriptures  we such
Humbly  kneeling
Our prayers we pray

Joyful  joyful
We adore our creator
Praising and worshiping
In truth and spirit
Communing and resting
With saints all through

Moving on...
3 years ago by Billy

There I was
Sitting in my room
Surrounded  by  thoughts
Angry livid and pissed off

Tears rolled  out
Sad and depressed
Watching how feeble I was
Because of you

Recalling the past
The strong and resilient
Happy and  healthy
In spite of you

I wake up
Motivated and encouraged
Rejuvenated by the olden times
Without you

Betrayal...
3 years ago by Billy

It was the best place he ever sat
It was the best day the week could offer
With activities he loved most
With friends he cherished most

It was once his second home
When everyone's  business  was their business
Love and care could be seen within
But,,,life happened;not anymore

Memories that keep flashing  in his mind
Of the past thing ever happened  to him
Of the betrayal  he could least expect
Feeling out casted from ever  thought family

Its the only place that resurrects the memories
The only day to come to the place
The only activities  he does precipitates all them
The friends he cherished  are associated

Funny Life...
3 years ago by Billy

Talking of days

Best and worst

We all have them

Its bad when they don't  congruent

Mine worst is yours best

Your's to remember is mine to forget

As you're  happy  am depressed

But life is a funny thing

As one is born another is dying

When reaping  others are sowing

In harmony they all will happen

Because life is a funny thing

Knowing the way of life

You'll  live with them all

Always considering the timing

Understanding how others feel

Because life is a funny thing
